Hell or High Water

by Michael Feeley
Talking about determination – here’s a popular phrase that expresses it:
“Come hell or high water.”
It means that no matter what, you will come through and something will definitely happen despite any challenges. It has fierce determination to it. It sounds unstoppable. It’s not wishful thinking – “I’ll try. I hope to do it.”
The words can be positive or negative, and that’s what determination is. The human choice to do good or to cause harm.
“Come hell or high water, I’ll meet my deadline and finish the book on Tuesday.”
Or
“Come hell or high water, I’ll have my way, my revenge.”
