Good and Evil
by Michael Feeley
Goodness don’t rest or retire.
Evil doesn’t rest or retire.
They are qualities and values we choose to have in our lives. Choices we make for how we live and work.
These aren’t phases we pass through or stages tied to our age. They’re commitments we renew daily, regardless of whether we’re twenty-five or seventy-five. The person who practiced compassion and kindness at forty doesn’t suddenly abandon it at sixty-five. The one who chose cruelty and ill will in their youth won’t magically transform without deliberate change.
Our character isn’t bound by employment status or birthday milestones. It’s defined by what we choose, again and again, in each interaction and decision. The values we carry don’t punch a time clock. They travel with us, active and present, for as long as we draw breath.
There are consequences—both for ourselves and others. Our choices create ripples. They shape communities, workplaces, families. Each act of kindness or cruelty extends beyond the moment, influencing the world we all inhabit.
