Fit In and Stand Out
by Michael Feeley
OFTEN WE’RE ENCOURAGED (and make our own choices) to fit in – to feel we belong, following the existing rules, the social structure, and values of how things are done, and not to stand out.
Fitting in can mean following the status quo, such as acting a certain way at school and later at a job. Behaving and not
being a rebel. (Real rebels create change.)
I think you can fit in and stand out by doing your work and doing more than expected , not being average or mediocre.
You can be unique and remarkable while working and living in standard ways.
I found happiness and success when I chose to be original while fitting in. Being myself and not pretending
to be like everyone else.
I was standing out within boundaries.
I did my thing with respect for others.
I trusted my gut and heart whether I was accepted or not, and I did not hurt other people with my choices.
It can be a fantastic thing if you feel you don’t fit in. It means you might be in the wrong place, and then…
you can move on to change things for the better by standing up and out > >> >>> >>>>
