Don’t Forget to Know Your Self

by Michael Feeley
To know someone is to share in their life with deep interest. It’s the hope to have a good effect on them in the process of knowing, learning, and understanding.
Knowing can begin in a few minutes, and it can last a lifetime.
It’s beautiful, deep, caring, and challenging work done with love.
Sharing includes daring to know someone’s joys and pains, dreams, hopes, fears, failures, losses, and successes.
The desire and then the choice to understand another person’s life is a gift that can relieve them from their challenges and celebrate their joy.
Trying to know is the vital choice and action.
This same gift of knowing – this choice to understand with positive effort and kindness – we can offer to others and to ourselves.
Do not forget to try to know yourself.
