Build Your Body of Work

HOW DO YOU get a body of work? Build it.
> Sondheim wasn’t born with a musical body of work.
> Marie Curie tested and tested and tested her beliefs.
> David Beckham kicked around his football for hours every single day with his dad.
> Martha Beck doesn’t miss a chance to coach.
> Daniel Roseberry didn’t cash in a gift certificate to become creative director at Schiaparelli.
Whatever you want to be and do, you’ve got to commit to doing the work daily to build your body of work, get it out of yourself, and share it with others. Publish it – Paint it – Dance it – Speak it – Hang it – Service it – Give it away – do whatever you can to have people know you and your work.
Create opportunities for yourself and be ready when opportunity knocks.
Be able to say – “I made this for you. And this and this and this and this and this….”
