Build Accountability
by Michael Feeley
With your projects and work, you shoot for the stars with big dreams and ambitions for success.
And, pretty quickly, your inner bully can also show up to make trouble by telling you you’re a flop. Never good enough, no matter what you do.
Amidst your endeavors, being discerning and compassionate towards yourself is essential. Don’t let self-doubt and resistance overshadow your true potential. Instead, strive to understand your capabilities and intentions with a kind and realistic perspective. Stick to the truth about you, your skills, and why you are doing the work you are doing.
One empowering opportunity is to include others in your dream work. Get yourself an accountability buddy—a trusted person or two or three who can help guide you with a strategic plan to win. Meeting at the same time and place to plan and plot. Asking:
What do you want to achieve and why?
How doable and realistic is your goal?
What steps will you take each day to succeed, including time and resources?
What might be missing?
What don’t you want to talk about as you plan?
Should you go back to the drawing board?
Other people help keep you on track and make the groundwork and heavy lifting more manageable, practical, and fun.
Why not create your accountability buddy or team first to help you from the start? You don’t have to be successful all by yourself.
