Be Mindful
by Michael Feeley
MINDFUL – AWARE OF the present moment, your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. It’s an intentional choice to be awake to yourself, living today and now at this minute with acceptance and without judgment.
It is lovely and feels good to live in the present moment. It feels balanced in my mind, body, and spirit.
I’m mindful of the past. Where I came from. I can’t change the past, but I can learn from it and change how I think about it.
I can start over – begin again.
I mindfully see where I am right now – most alive from moment to moment—living the truth and facts about me and the world around me. Call it loving self-awareness.
I have mindful thoughts about the future, but I’m not there. It’s unknown what will be for me, and I still continue to plan, hope, and take action to build a happy future.
Mindfulness does not remove the forces or questions of the world – the pain and pleasure we experience daily with war, politics, finances, health, cultures, beliefs – for and against – happiness and harm – love and hatred – good and evil – respect and contempt – self and world.
Mindfulness helps us create and live with compassion, openness, bravery, freedom, choices.
Mindfulness isn’t hard. Just remind yourself to practice it.
