Age is a Process to be Honored

Age is a Process to be Honored

by Michael Feeley June 7, 2021

I’M THINKING AGE and looking at the Caribbean island of Saba, where I live.

Wikipedia says:

“Saba is an inactive volcano called Mount Scenery (2,910 feet high) and has existed for about 400,000 years. First inhabited by the Ciboney people as early as the 1100’s BC and later, circa 800 AD, by the Arawak people from South America….”

When I put myself next to these facts, as a modern elder (becoming vintage and a classic) approaching 70 years of age, I ask:

– How should older people be seen?

– What value should all mature citizens have?

– How can we be seen as beautiful, to be honored and cared for, our entire history and life facts wondered at and respected?

– What can I, have I contributed to the world – just like an ancient Caribbean island?

– What are my Wikipedia facts and legacy?

“Michael Feeley is a human being. A man – 6 feet tall – who has existed from 1951 AD, son, husband, gardener, actor and singer, travel agent, head hunter, life coach, real estate agent, writer….”

Age is a process, and while it has truth and some time limitations, it’s not the end of the whole story. Not the end of my story and… it’s good to be related to a volcano.

Thanks – Michael
